Christmas In July

As a bit of fun, this month we celebrated Chrissy in July. Apparently only 1 of us received the memo to wear our Chrissy jumpers 😝

Thanks to our awesome physio Soph for organizing a fab dinner at Terra & Sol at Glenelg. Looking forward to the new tradition, and we’ll aim for >1 Chrissy jumpers next year 🎄🤣

L > R Steph, Dee, Bri, Zee, Abbey, Soph, Shane, Bec (& missing Holly). And yes, you might notice a new face in the mix. We will officially introduce Abbey in next month’s newsletter.

Breast Cancer Recovery

Most of us know someone who has suffered from breast cancer as it is one of the most common forms of cancers in Australia.

With advanced medicine there are really great treatments with fantastic outcomes now. People are more likely to diagnose and treat breast cancer early with screening processes which helps with quicker recovery times. To help someone diagnosed with breast cancer treatment involves a combination of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation and or hormone therapy which have their own side effects.

At phyx. we are now offering cancer rehab services with our physio Zeenia.

Are You A Keen Runner?

With City to Bay creeping up on us, running is a hot topic.

If you’re a keen runner, strength training should be a key component in your running program.

Research shows it can reduce the risk of overuse injuries by up to 50%. Increasing your power and coordination also helps you run faster and improve your efficiency. Sometimes it can be hard to know where to start, so we have put together a basic home exercise program that you can follow with ease. The exercises can be performed with no equipment as any strength training is better than nothing.

Check out our Physio’s Soph’s Top Tips and home exercise program here.

Is Your Meniscus Tear Destined For Surgery?

In our blog this month, we discuss meniscus tears and how to recover from them.

Around a decade ago, all meniscus tears were destined for surgery. Usually an arthroscope to clean off the rough edges of the tear was required. In more recent years, more doctors and physios are rehabilitating meniscus tears with conservative treatment (meaning hands on physio, inflammation management and exercises).
