November Newsletter : Phyx. Updates 2023

Welcome to the November 2023 Edition of our newsletter where we share updates, tips and Phyx. stories.

The year has flown by, and yes, we missed our October Newsletter – eek! Here is what’s been happening around Phyx. during November.

Phyx. Chrissy

Last Friday we closed up early for a team day and then for our Phyx.mas event.

We had a fab afternoon reflecting on 2023, setting up for 2024 and welcoming some new faces for the new year.

We finished off the day with the obligatory Michael Buble Christmas album while we got creative with ‘paint by numbers’ and then out to Seamore’s at Henley for dinner and cocktails. Make sure to follow us on insta and facebook to see bts videos but here is a pic from the night (the only one we managed to get).

A big thank you to those who helped with bts organising and presenting on the day! Team work makes the dream work!

Mature Coffee Catch Up

Our annual tradition of our fave Chrissy coffee catch up is here again!

We are looking forward to hosting our Mature Pilates ladies & gents for a coffee to close out the year.

This year we will head to Old Habbits (Shop 5/26 Frederick Rd, West Lakes) Thursday 21st December at 11am.

We would love for you to join us! If you are able to attend, please RSVP bu December 15th via email or let your Physio know in your next Pilates class.

Private Health Insurance ‘Reset’

It’s that time of year again, where most private health insurers are about to ‘reset’ your benefits.

For those who have extras cover, your fund will allocate around $500-$1000 to physio. January 1st every year, most health funds (NIB, Bupa, Medibank, AHM, Health Partner and more) ‘reset’ your health cover. So, if you do not use this whole benefit amount in year, it does not roll over and it’s gone for good.

If you have a niggle that you’ve been meaning to get looked at, you’re due for a maintenance treatment, or even if you’ve been thinking about starting Pilates, make the most your health insurance benefits and book in to see one of our Physios (you do not need a referral to see our team).

We have HICAPS facility, so you can claim your rebate on the spot. You can book online by clicking HERE now, or calling on 8356 1379.

We look forward to seeing you in the clinic soon so that we can help you move well and feel great!

Oncology Physiotherapy

In recent years we have started offering oncology rehabilitation Physiotherapy to support people affected by cancer.

Megan is our certified PINC Certified Cancer Rehabilitation Therapist (also known as Oncology Rehab Physiotherapist). She has a passion for helping patients improve their strength, quality of life and sense of wellbeing through every stage of their treatment and recovery.

Here are 5 things that Oncology Physiotherapy can help with

  1. Facilitate recovery from any cancer surgery including regaining strength, mobility, easing pain and muscular tension
  2. Chemotherapy induced cognitive or emotional changes, fatigue management, breathing rehabilitation
  3. Manual treatment for surgery or treatment related impairments (e.g. Cording in Breast Cancer patients, scar management)
  4. Individualized exercise prescription based on type of cancer, age, fitness level, stage of recovery and treatment side effects
  5. Integration back to work and higher level exercise classes or sport

If you or someone you know might benefit from this type of physio, feel free to reach out to us via email or ring the practice. You can also book an oncology rehab appointment online with Megan here.

I had a great experience with Veronica this week. She provided fantastic assessment and treatment which relieved my longstanding L arm pain immediately after the first visit. Thank you so much for your great support.

If only giving 10 stars were an option here. I first attended Phyx almost 4 years ago for a niggling pain that after a few visits came good. Then after an injury about a year ago with pinched nerves causing radiating pain in the shoulder area, I returned to visit Phyx again. I started with hands-on physio treatment and then added some one one-on-one Pilates sessions with the physio and now on to group Pilates classes. The hands-on treatment is great as the physios really listen, focus on what you're saying, and are obviously highly skilled to rectify tricky problems. My GP and specialist told me surgery was the only answer, but so far with the treatment from Phyx we're proving that wrong. From day one the team has been amazing, and very professional. Everyone is so polite, friendly and welcoming. Especially making a bloke feel comfortable in fitting into Pilates classes that are generally considered to be a "Ladies' thing". Let me just say, get in there guys it really is a full workout. Thank you all very much.

So far I have only had the Physio consultation and have booked into my first Pilates class which will be soon (this is why I have only put 4 stars). The Receptionist was friendly and the Physiotherapist was very thorough and also friendly and I felt comfortable asking any questions. She took me into the studio and showed me a few exercises. I am looking forward to starting my classes soon.

The team at Phyx are amazing!! From the moment you are greeted at the front desk you are treated with genuine care and kindness. I've been going to Phyx for treatment on a back/neck issue and I am so impressed with the results. The physio team are very knowledgeable, professional and are only interested in achieving the best outcomes for their clients. I also love their pilates classes - they are physio-led and suit anyone, from beginners to elite level. Highly recommend Phyx! 🙂
