Pilates for pregnant women in West Adelaide
Pregnancy is such a special time full of changes (some cute, some just downright weird).
It’s so important to keep as fit and strong as you can throughout pregnancy to support your changing body and prepare you for bub’s arrival earthside.
At Phyx., we love supporting women through this time.
Pilates during pregnancy can help to reduce the toll of your pregnancy on your body (especially pelvic, hip and back pain) as well as helping you to bounce back faster after giving birth.
As your baby grows, the exercises will be altered to suit your gestation and to keep you and your baby safe.
Our pregnant mummas are able to join ‘Open’ classes. With a few tweaks to exercises, like sitting with a jumpboard behind your back as opposed to laying flat on the reformer, you will be good to go.
Expect the physiotherapist instructing the class to quietly check in with you about common pregnancy conditions. They know the movements to take care with if you are starting to show signs of pregnancy pains.
Before entering Pilates Reformer classes at Phyx., you will require an ‘Initial Exercise Appointment’ with one of our physios.
During this appointment, your physio will get to know you, your pregnancy so far, check in with you about your core and pelvic floor technique, and give you a heads up about common things to watch out for.
If you have any concerns relating to your pregnancy or pain you might be experiencing, feel free to talk with your physio during this appointment.
